Between tradition and innovation: The Nordic states at the Grüne Woche
The Nordic federal states of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Lower Saxony are presenting themselves as local and sustainable at this year's Grüne Woche.
Local forest honey and baking bread: Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is showing its traditional side at this year's Grüne Woche. Lower Saxony, on the other hand, is attracting visitors with sustainable innovations such as beer that helps to protect native birds and crisps that support small farmers from South America. Whether Hall 5.2b or Hall 20 - a visit promises not only culinary but also touristic inspiration.
Forest honey liqueur from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
The tourism and health state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will be presenting itself at the Grüne Woche with around 80 exhibitors and a varied programme in its own hall. It attracts visitors with natural products such as liqueur made from local forest honey or delicatessen specialities from the island of Rügen. While the children learn how to bake bread, parents can get inspiration for their next family holiday in the countryside. The highlight is once again the regional day, this time organised by the West Pomeranian region.
Lower Saxony: Sustainable birdy beer and spoon tea
Roast potatoes with kale pesto? Plantain chips from small South American farmers? Or would you prefer potato sushi? At the Niedersachsen stand, there are not only creative things to savour, but also sustainable ones: the so-called ‘Birdy Beer’, for example, is committed to the protection of native birds. A purchase of plantain chips supports projects in the Global South. And ‘Löffeltee’ serves tea not in the usual tea bag, but in a sustainable spoon.
