A taste of southern Germany at the Grüne Woche
The aroma of hearty food leads the way to the stands of the southern German states. But visitors can also expect all kinds of agricultural expertise.
Maultaschen burgers, hemp mustard or sausage from Bavarian straw pigs: Southern German cuisine is something to be proud of. But the regions will not only be presenting culinary delights. The Bavarian Hall provides information about technical innovations in traditional pasture farming, while Rhineland-Palatinate attracts visitors with a weekend in the wine-growing region. And in Hesse, the green sauce herbs grow right in the exhibition hall.
Baden-Württemberg: Maultaschen burgers and a variety of wines
Fancy a little trip to the south? Especially in winter, southern German home cooking really warms you up from the inside. Whether it's Maultaschen, Krautschupfnudeln or sweet potato soup - everyone gets their money's worth here. But you can also sample cheese, sausage and game specialities or fine wines from the two growing regions of Baden and Württemberg. The Baden-Württemberg experience at the Grüne Woche is rounded off with show cooking, a traditional band and beats from a DJ.
Bavaria: between alpine pastures and the Alps
Bavaria is the land of delicacies. In Bayernhalle 22b you can experience Bavarian specialities live and with all your senses: Cheese specialities from the Allgäu, Franconian wine, Nuremberg sausages (‘Drei im Weggla’), quaffable beers and much more. Other highlights include the Entenwirt beer garden, hearty performances by brass bands and traditional folk musicians and a visit to this year's special ‘Genuss Bayern’ area with Bavarian specialities from all Bavarian regions, as well as the ‘Servus Urlaub’ presentation by the Bavarian tourism associations.
Hesse: Watching the green sauce herbs grow
The Hessenhalle offers a cornucopia of Hessian products - including classics such as Äppelwoi, North Hessian Ahle Worscht and, of course, green sauce. The herbs grow in the hall, are harvested fresh every day and prepared by TV chef Rainer Neidhart. There will also be green sauce gin and ice cream. Two new exhibitors will surprise visitors with all the variety that Hessian agriculture has to offer: Tea and oil fresh from the field and the best organic buffalo products such as mozzarella, yoghurt and bratwurst.
North Rhine-Westphalia: Sugar-free thirst quenchers and snack cakes
Visitors to the NRW State Hall can look forward to a unique culinary journey through the agricultural state: whether sweet hemp mustard, exotic mushrooms straight from Cologne or sugar-free thirst quenchers in organic quality for children - both young and old will get their money's worth here. Artisan specialities made from water buffalo milk and snack cakes without industrial sugar round off the Westphalian flavour journey.
Rhineland-Palatinate: Win the next weekend trip with the gold quiz
Fancy a weekend break in one of the wine-growing regions of the Rhineland-Palatinate wine majesties? That's possible with the ‘Gold Quiz’, where you can also win other great prizes between wine tastings. Six wine-growing regions are represented in Hall 6.2: Rheinhessen, Pfalz, Mosel, Nahe, Ahr and Middle Rhine. Of course, in addition to delicious wine, the federal state also has excursion destinations for nature lovers and wellness enthusiasts.
