More than Thuringian dumplings: The eastern German states at the Grüne Woche
From egg liqueur made from activated charcoal to superfood snails - this is what the eastern German states have to offer at the Grüne Woche.
Eastern Germany is a sight to behold: Five of the eastern German states will be presenting themselves in the exhibition halls. From hip Berlin with innovative young companies to traditional Brandenburg brands and sugar-free delicacies from Thuringia - the regional stands will once again be showing their best side this year. In addition to flavour experiences, visitors can also find out about places of interest.
Sustainable ideas from Berlin
The Berlin Senate Department for Justice and Consumer Protection is once again exhibiting at the Grüne Woche. It will be represented there for the first time with a start-up island that offers a platform for innovative young Berlin companies. Another stand will provide information about Berlin's food strategy. This is all about how food waste can be reduced. The lighthouse project ‘Kantine Zukunft’ will also be presenting itself. It supports Berlin canteens in offering more fresh, regional and sustainably produced food.
Brandenburg: egg liqueur with activated charcoal and pure baker's toast
In addition to traditional brands and products such as Spreewald gherkins, Beelitz asparagus and sausage specialities, creative ideas such as Astreines Bäckertoast, chocolate with mustard meal and egg liqueur with activated charcoal will also be on show in the Brandenburg Hall. A large number of young companies and new exhibitors will demonstrate the economic strength of the Brandenburg natural and cultural landscape. Testing, networking, showing off - Brandenburg is also a must for lovers of flavour and discovery in 2025.
Capital of Culture 2025 presents ‘C THE UNSEEN’ in the Saxony Hall
Whether potato snacks, pinsa, tartlets or ice cream - there is something for every taste in the Saxony Hall. Thirsty throats can look forward to fermented drinks, coffee specialities, wine and craft beers. If you want to experience even more of that Saxon feeling, you can get inspiration for your next trip to Saxon holiday paradises such as the Leipzig New Lake District or Saxon Switzerland. As a highlight, Chemnitz - European Capital of Culture 2025 - presents itself with a unique programme of events under the motto ‘C THE UNSEEN’.
Saxony-Anhalt: Snails as super food
Guests to Saxony-Anhalt Hall 23b will experience culinary gems: This year's winners of the ‘Culinary Saxony-Anhalt’ competition, such as Böllberger Brauerei and Kaffeerösterei Roy, promise flavourful highlights. The spirit of innovation comes alive here: The Altmark snail farm, which is part of a sensational research project with Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, will be showcasing snails as a superfood. There are tingling moments at the ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ adventure world stand. Here, visitors can not only immerse themselves in the history of sparkling wine, but also enjoy a glass.
Thuringia: Market feeling in a castle atmosphere
Thuringia, the green heart of Germany, is known for its diverse landscape and offers a variety of history, tradition and modern life. Highlight of the Grüne Woche 2025: the ‘Drei Gleichen’ castles. Small market stalls fill the castle courtyard with life. The young start-up ot ku'thür from the district of Gotha will be presenting a special product: clothing made from wood. Fine cheesecakes made according to traditional Thuringian recipes are also served. Thanks to the patented production process, the ready-baked cakes (small cakes) can be kept for months without refrigeration - with 100% natural ingredients without any artificial additives.
