Hippologica puts equestrian sport centre stage at Grüne Woche
With dressage, show jumping, obstacle driving, vaulting and a training presentation, Hippologica will once again offer visitors to Grüne Woche a colourful mix from the world of equestrian sport.
On the last three days of Grüne Woche, visitors can immerse themselves in the world of horses and get to know different facets of equestrian sport at Hippologica from 24 to 26 January.
With Kaija Schramm and her horse World Royal, the reigning Berlin-Brandenburg state champion will be competing in the dressage competition, in show jumping the U14 state champion Lara Hoffmann and her horse Antonia are an exciting duo and in vaulting the successes of the participants are so far-reaching that a complete list would exceed the scope of this text.
Vaulting as an introduction to equestrian sport
‘Vaulting has been the most successful discipline in the Landesverband Pferdesport Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. for years,’ reveals Peter Fröhlich, Managing Director of the Landesverband Pferdesport Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. (LPBB), who is jointly responsible for the Hippologica programme.
Vaulting is often the first step into equestrian sport and is used in school sport as well as in competitive sport and curative education. Knowledge and skills in handling horses are particularly important in order to be able to perform gymnastic and acrobatic exercises.
Inclusive riding with a therapeutic approach
Diana Harwardt (23) started out in dressage and show jumping before switching to single and then double vaulting in 2015, where she has already celebrated various successes with Peter Künne (24) on gelding Sir Laulau. Most recently, the team won the 2024 World Championships in Bern with lunger Andrea Harwardt from Reitverein Integration.
Reitverein Integration offers competitive sport as well as inclusive riding with a therapeutic approach for people with physical and mental disabilities. ‘The club is characterised by the fact that they are well versed in top-level vaulting and make their contribution in terms of inclusion and therapeutic riding,’ says Peter Fröhlich.
Therapeutic riding will not be on show during Grüne Woche, but there will be various performances in individual, double and group vaulting, including a freestyle by the reigning world champions and the junior team. (Friday, 7 p.m., Hall 25).
Award for horse-friendly riding
Another highlight is the training presentation of the 8-rider team in dressage, show jumping and eventing (Sunday, 10.30 am). The 8-rider team Berlin-Brandenburg is an initiative to promote the idea of animal welfare and public recognition for stylistically correct, harmonious and horse-friendly riding and driving. Only riders who have achieved scores of 8.0 or higher in dressage, style jumping or eventing in the current season are members of the 8-rider team. Two representatives were drawn from each of the dressage and show jumping competitions for the show training at the Hippologica. Julie Anna Baum (RFV HLG Neustadt) and Lena Haug (RFV Buckau) have been selected for dressage, Anna-Luise Kloppick (LRV Münchehofe) for show jumping and the aforementioned Lara Hoffmann (PferdeSV Oderland e.V.), who will also be competing in the Hippologica Masters show jumping competition.
