Genome editing in agriculture: What Europe can learn from its trading partners.

For six years, European science, business and politics have been grappling with the question of how genome-edited plants should be legally categorised. While the development of modern regulation at EU level has stalled, more and more third countries, including important trading partners of the EU, are striving for science-based regulation and the cultivation of genome-edited plants. At its event, the Association of the German Agricultural, Food and Bioeconomy Industry would like to explore some of the related questions: What is the state of regulation worldwide compared to the EU? What are the (potential) effects of EU regulation on international agricultural trade? How could the flow of goods and security of supply in the EU be affected?
