In Hall 20, guests at the International Green Week can expect the best food from Thuringia and much more.
The focus district of Weimarer Land whets the appetite for a vacation between mountains and lakes.
Literally with kettledrums and trumpets the Thuringian Gugge musicians Apolda welcomed the political delegation around Bodo Ramelow on Saturday in resounds to 20 with the Thuringia day. After tapping a beer keg from Apolda's club brewery, the prime minister got an impression of the Thuringia Hall together with Thuringia's Minister of Agriculture Susanna Karawanskij, Christiane Schmidt-Rose, the district administrator of Weimarer Land, and Minister of State Carsten Schneider.
Weimarer Land will be the focal district of Thüringen-Halle in 2023. A walk-in Tiny House by the company AddWood whets the appetite for a vacation at the Hohenfelden reservoir, where travelers can spend the night in the minimalist accommodation at a campsite. The Goethe hiking trail from Ilmenau is also worth a trip. A modern bench made of wood, which also serves as a CO2 depot, invites visitors to take a break. IGW guests can already sit here to try it out.
Tradition and innovation on the plate
Gastronomically, the offer ranges between tradition and innovation. At the Burkhardt ostrich farm in Schmölln, visitors can taste homemade salami. Guests can also admire the gigantic ostrich eggs at the stand. The traditional waffle bread Filinchen will show its large assortment, which also includes spicy lentil snacks or black rusk with activated charcoal.
The classics bratwurst and dumplings will of course also be on offer. Among other things, the Heichelheim dumpling factory has brought along dumpling fries with a crispy exterior and juicy core. Fine chocolates are available from Goldhelm Schokoladen Manufaktur Erfurt.
"For us, the Green Week is a flagship event because we use it for tourism marketing," Bodo Ramelow sums it up. "We show that we are a country with agricultural production, food processing, but precisely also excellent goods that are produced in our country. And combining that with the Thuringia experience makes the International Green Week a focal trade fair in itself for us."
In Hall 20, visitors can sample Thuringian products and experience the Thuringian way of life.
