Regional Star Awards for four food retailers

The winners of Regional Stars 2024 on stage

The winners of Regional Stars 2024

Every year, the Green Week and Lebensmittel Praxis honour sustainable regional concepts from the food trade with the Regional Star Award. The focus here is on products and concepts that are not only new and innovative, but also leave an ecological footprint to be proud of. A leap forward for the palate and the environment.

1. product design meets sustainability: innovation on the market

The Regional Star Award is not only looking for the latest trends, but also for products that are both tasty and give something back. Be it to nature or to society. "Antonius gemeinsam begegnen" from Fulda came out on top in the product innovation category with its Emma spreads. People with and without disabilities work hand in hand in the Antonius shop and the associated workshops, processing regional and imperfect products.

2. partnership instead of competition: trade cooperations for regional products

Put an end to competition between producers and retailers. Cooperations and partnerships that promote regional added value are honoured with the Regional Star Award in the "Trade Cooperation" category. It is not just sales that count here, but also co-operation. The "E-Center Schneider" from Bayreuth with the Bayreuther Land farm shop stood out in particular. Edeka retailer Patrick Schneider has gained the Bayreuther Land producer umbrella brand as a co-operation partner and created an attractive farm shop for the products of small producers as a shop-in-shop concept.

3. between harvest and consumption: Focus on innovative processing structures

What happens behind the scenes before the product ends up on your plate? The Regional Star Award in the "Processing" category goes to a concept that takes the processing of regional products to a new level. "Edeka Südwest Fleisch" from Offenburg was particularly convincing in category three and was honoured with the Regional Star Award 2024. The "Hofglück" brand stands for premium-quality meat. Pigs and poultry are not fed genetically modified feed and are kept in the region. This secures the livelihood of the farmers and protects the environment thanks to short transport routes. The suppliers come from the south-west of Germany.

4. marketing with a system: the role of marketing for regional products

The best products deserve the best marketing. The Regional Star Award in the "Marketing" category honours the best marketing strategy. From the point of sale to the online presentation - this is not about casual staging, but about serious concepts. "Rewe Stenten" from Aachen was particularly convincing with its "Aachen Liebe" campaign. 40 employees stood in front of the camera and presented their personal, regional favourite product.
